This is the first week of my Studio 1. Its winter and cold in where I am.
Right here at my desk, beside my only warm companion, dark, fragrant, bitter, "Coffee". The year 2020, a new decade, promising new dreams. Monday of last week, walked into college, the place I call my second home. I walked passed unfamiliar white walls, the air tastes monotonous and calm.
Punched my skeleton card against the reader. walked into the white wide room. faces around tables, mostly familiar once, mumbling about yesterdays. Waited, waited for the big boss, to show up. Big Boss walked in, smiling. moments later..
we were at the core of the subject, modular design pattern. A work deigned to be modular can be revisited changed, unlike moments of my past. He explained the core concepts of sustenance and expansion, like the Big Boss he is. The main concepts for developing a manageable software architecure are:
Scalability : how much could a designed system can handle in terms of capacity.
Usability : can the individual elements be separated into components and be used as separate entities.
Maintainability : well structured and commented code which could be maintained and be managed later in the future.
Availability : How accessible and frequent can be the said designed system that you are planning to build.
Portability : How many platforms could the designed system support. like Windows, Mac, Android, IOs etc.
Extensibility : how easy it is to add new features, functions classes etc. to the existing architecture.
Secure : how well protected your code is. how hard it is to access the source code of the designed architecture.
Later my boss introduced us to the recap section were he discussed the core concepts of memory allocation and class structure, things that should be most familiar, to more than your gun, more than your right arm. Later he moved on to explaining UML diagram. which is in sort of a map system used by software developers to define, explain and above all to help themselves out figuring what the hell was going on while he was making it. Then we were given a break. A time given to do what you want. I walked down the empty stair ways, my foot steps echoes, hoping to meet fresh air at the street, but I was wrong, street welcomed me, taste of firey and lifeless odor, Gasoline. Time was up, I got back to the room, the next session almost started, the big boss walked in, sat by his desk, looked like waiting for some one. The boss of the animation department walked in.
Followed him, I don't know, a flock or a pack. they walked in, passed us, sat behind our decks. The class started and the teams were formed. Me and my two trusty men were talking with the associated new comers, discussing future plans.
